The Turning Forest

This painting is one of my all time favorites.  It is from my Misty Forest series.  I used interference paints to finish this painting, which create a visual effect as you walk by the painting.  It turns from green, to blue green as you move around the painting, and shimmers like light is hitting it from all angles.  It's really a painting you should see in person.

Size: 72 X 48
Framed with a very nice black wooden frame and ready to hang.  It is signed in the bottom right hand corner.

Medium: Acrylics on Stretched Canvas

The Old Farm House

This painting comes straight from my imagination.  I prefer to work from memory when doing buildings, rather than from a photo.  That way I can combine the character of many houses or buildings into my own unique creation.

I am surrounded by hundreds of old farm houses in Northern Maine.  I tried to think about what gives them a lot of character, and why they are so appealing when creating this painting.  The unique roof lines, the connected nature of each structure and the old beat up siding makes them nice to look at.  They hold so much history, and you can almost see the past when you look through the windows.

I started a new series of paintings "Turning Sketches into Paintings."  I recently have been taking very small sketches from my sketch book and turning them into large paintings.  It is a fun process because you don't have a lot to work from with a little basic sketch.  Most of the sketches I work from are just rough outlines and a few scribbles.  But to turn them into paintings is a fun process, because you have to increase the size so much, and create a lot of the details from your imagination.
